Formal Recruitment
Longwood University's Formal Recruitment occurs in the Spring, the weekend before classes start. Recruitment involves a Mutual Selection Process where both sides have to agree in order to move forward with the process. Recruitment is a three-day process that occurs the weekend before the Spring semester starts.
Day 1: Values Day:
During the first day of Formal Recruitment you meet all eight NPC sororities: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Sigma Tau, Kappa Delta, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Sigma Kappa, and Zeta Tau Alpha. On this day, you learn about all the sororities and the values they each stand for.
Day 2: Philanthropy Day
On the second day of Formal Recruitment you meet with up to five of the chapters. The chapters that you meet are determined through the Mutual Selection Process. This day is dedicated to the philanthropies that each sorority works with.
Day 3: Preference Day
Preference Day is the final day of Formal Recruitment. On this day, you visit up to three sororities, also determined by the Mutual Selection Process. At the end of visiting each sorority, you rank the ones you visited.
Bid Day
Bid Day occurs in the early evening on the third day of Formal Recruitment. During this time, you open up the Bid Card that is given to you and that card holds the name of the sorority that you run home to.
